Delta Air Lines is deepening its commitment to Africa with the introduction of new routes, including an expansion of service to Accra, Ghana, and the airline’s first-ever flights to Marrakech, Morocco. These additions provide U.S. travelers with more seamless connections to two of the continent’s most dynamic destinations.
Starting December 1, 2025, Delta will introduce seasonal daily flights from Atlanta to Accra, a move that complements its existing daily year-round service from New York-JFK. The route will operate on the Airbus A330-900neo, one of Delta’s most modern aircraft, featuring Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Comfort+, and Main Cabin options.
Accra has long been a popular destination for travelers reconnecting with family, exploring Ghana’s rich culture, or visiting its historical sites, including Cape Coast Castle, the bustling Makola Market, and Kwame Nkrumah Park. With expanded service, more passengers will have access to Ghana’s vibrant capital during the high-travel winter season.
The new December routes are just in time for the ‘Detty December’ season- a period known for non-stop parties and celebrations. Last December, the quarter saw an acceleration in demand, with Delta experiencing four of the top ten revenue days in its history, which occurred in November and December. This surge was driven by both leisure and corporate travelers, leading to double-digit growth in cash bookings.
While specific data for Ghana flights during "Detty December" is not available, Delta's overall performance during this period indicates a strong demand for air travel, which likely extended to its African routes, including those to Accra.

In addition to the Accra expansion, Delta will launch its first-ever nonstop flights to Marrakech on October 25, 2025. This three-times-weekly service from Atlanta will make Delta the only U.S. carrier with direct flights to the Moroccan city. Operated by the Boeing 767-400ER, the route offers passengers multiple cabin choices, including lie-flat Delta One seats and the elevated experience of Delta Premium Select.
Marrakech is a top travel destination known for its lively souks, stunning palaces, and luxurious riads. With Delta’s new route, travelers will have a direct gateway to Morocco’s rich history and vibrant culture, without the need for a layover.
Since launching its first flights to Africa in 2006, Delta has flown over 7.5 million passengers between the U.S. and the continent. These new routes reinforce Delta’s commitment to offering travelers more choices, premium service, and enhanced connectivity between North America and Africa.
With the addition of Accra and Marrakech, Delta’s African network continues to grow, making it easier than ever for passengers to explore, connect, and experience the continent’s diverse landscapes and cultures.
